Kauri gum digger were mostly Dalmatians up north in 1885 because they wanted to get rich.

The Chinese moved to New Zealand because they we immigrate were invited  to New Zealand from the the Dunedin's chamber of commerce to replace the western goldmines. Who had followed the gold - fever to Australia  however, the produce against the Chinese eventually led to calls for restrictions on immigration.

This is why the Scandinavians moved over to New Zealand, The first few families were attracted to their compatriots in the Manawatu, where they helped to establish Palmerston North. Scandinavians were also in demand for those isolated settlements which several of the provincial governments had established in such places as Stewart Island and Jackson Bay.

The reasons why the Pacific Islanders moved over to New Zealand, After the Second World War, close links, job opportunities and population pressure on some islands led many Pacific people to migrate to New Zealand.
